Pretty Petty
Sophie Cunningham, Cancer placements, and the sacred art of making a point without saying a word.
Whenever I write a New or Full Moon piece for paid subscribers, I usually like to showcase the higher and lower expressions of each zodiac sign.
Where they shine.
Where they struggle.
This Full Moon was in Capricorn.
And typical of Saturn in Aries sitting on my Sun — which it will be for all of 2026, please ignore my incessant complaining — I served Saturn for all the Cappys.
Incisive.
Detailed.
A touch clinical.
Okay. I did everything but say, “Turn your head and cough.”
But make no mistake: I love Capricorns. Adore them.
Both my 7th House of Partnership and 8th House of Transformation are in Capricorn.
Tailoring? Salt-and-pepper hair? Quarter zips?
DO NOT GET ME STARTED.
But since we are in Cancer season, with Mercury Retrograde in Cancer, it feels only fair that this Cancer Rising share the shadow side of the cosmic crustaceans too.
We can be a little moody.
We can get a touch emotional.
We have also felt a little safer than we probably should have with Jupiter here.
In our defense, Cancers can also be useful in a crisis.
We can be perfectly nostalgic.
We can be just as strategic as Capricorn.
(Fifty Cent is a Cancer Sun and dropped Sean Combs: The Reckoning while Jupiter was in Cancer.)
You have to respect the timing.
And when we love you, we do not simply “support.”
We form a perimeter.
Enter: Sophie Cunningham.

Unless you are living under a rock, you have probably seen the now-viral exchange between WNBA Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham and Phoenix Mercury forward-guard DeWanna Bonner.
According to Cunningham, Bonner helped set off the exchange that ended with her teammate, WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark, catching a technical on June 22. By then, the conversation around whether Caitlin was being targeted on the court had already reached a fever pitch.
And Sophie?
Sophie pointed.
Not yelled.
Not lunged.
Not delivered a full courtroom monologue at center court.
She pointed.
The point heard around the zodiac.

While we do not have Sophie’s exact birth time, this woman is clearly a Leo Sun.
She is not built to be a background character.
Not spiritually.
Not cosmetically.
Not narratively.
And with her Mercury in Virgo conjunct her Moon, she is going to tell you precisely how she feels, why you are wrong, where your logic failed, and where the receipts are located.
With both Venus and Mars in Cancer, she loves people like family and will defend her loved ones as if they are her own.
This is not casual loyalty.
This is “I remembered what you said in 2017, what you were wearing when we met, and will absolutely walk into traffic for you if the emotional math checks out” loyalty.
Her North Node in Libra adds another layer: partnerships, fairness, optics, and looking pretty while making the point.
Literally.
She is also in her Saturn Return in Aries era. Translation: this is not just about being loud, visible, or memeable. Saturn Return asks you to grow into the weight of your own authority. Aries asks you to lead from instinct, courage, and action.
In other words, the point may have been petty.
But the assignment is leadership.
That evening, the Sun in Cancer had recently entered Sophie’s solar 12th House — the house of hidden enemies, backstage drama, things brewing beneath the surface, and people who thought you weren’t paying attention.
But Cancer is always paying attention.
Especially when there is history.
Sophie and DeWanna previously played together for the Phoenix Mercury, which gives this whole thing an extra Mercury Retrograde in Cancer flavor.
Old team.
Old dynamics.
Old stories.
New camera angle.
With Venus in Leo, words did not have to be exchanged directly.
The drama had already put on lashes.
And with Jupiter freshly in Leo alongside Venus, paired with a Cancer Sun and Mercury Retrograde in Cancer, Sophie may be the unofficial spokesperson for the next couple of weeks.
At least until July 9, when Venus enters Virgo and everyone starts pretending they were being reasonable the whole time.
Until then?
Any call-outs may be dramatic, beautifully styled, slightly passive-aggressive, and absolutely carrying a little history.
Cancer remembers.
Leo performs.
Virgo fact-checks.
And Sophie Cunningham pointed for all of them.
We’re so here for it.

Would it surprise you to know I'm a finger wagger. So much so my friends get excited when it comes out. They know sh*t is about to get real.
Hi. I'm a July Cancer baby and yes... I only wish I could forget shit and all that history- I'd be much a much happier little crab. xx
